i honestly dislike it. he should have been punished. Anubis is a hypocrite judging Sari so harshly but letting someone who CLEARLY broke the law... not saying death, but long term punishment etc. it is a kingdom during a peace treaty. some consistency is all i ask.

ANUBIS judged Sari harshly because he wants her to go away. He sees Ilya as a tool to get what is more pressing matter, making Sari go away. He'll suffer a little indignity if it's for what HE THINKS is best for his king.
Sure Ilya acts like a beast but from his perspective these monsters are only play acting as civilized. His experiences up to this point have driven home the lesson that monsters are monsters in all ways and should be treated as such, no matter how much they "act" like humans in the end.
He didn't know they were going to sacrifice Sari and she never told him prior to the event. Why do you think he didn't come sooner? BECAUSE he wasn't in the village at the time! He travels with his master from town to town and isn't part of her village just a frequent visitor.
Sure Ilya hurt her but even by the end of the episode he is unaware of hurting her wrist. He also had time to justify in his mind knocking her unconscious for the sake of freeing her for her own good. And yes, Illya is not the sharpest tool in the shed, just a very skilled one.
Anubis is manipulative and at this point has not desire to see a human anywhere near the throne of his king. You say he is trash because you see Sari as likeable, he sees her as weak and a dagger that enemies of the King will use to attack Leo's reign. He is currently fighting Leo's heart desire with his own purely head logic that she is the wrong person for the King.

Personally I think Illya is in love with Sari just as the King is and THAT will be the conflict of next ep! Your plot hole is not a hole if you can take knowledge that he is a very powerful fighter. He had to endure the miasma, that Sari has that ring to protect her with, just to get to the Capitol and could have taken out the gate guard but didn't kill him. Now while in the castle I believe the miasma is not as powerful so he has regained some of his lost vigor.

Nah, nothing worse than infantilizing someone assuming you know whats best for them. thats not love, respect or understanding. Anubis is overstepping with Leo, hence why he is trash. Illya is overstepping with Sari, hence why he is trash. whether you hurt someone by accident or on purpose, that doesn't excuse it. its wrong. Next episode he ties her up... there is no rational of a sane person who would do that to a person they "love". he doesnt love her, he loves what HE WANTS from her. thats nothing but ego and pride. Compared to Leo, who said, if she wants to go w him, and thats the best for her, ill let her go. Even this world is allowing for true and consistent morals within its narrative. Compare them amongst themselves.

Anubis definitely had ulterior motives, he saw Illya as the golden ticket to getting rid of Sari, which is why he smirked and why he put up with getting assaulted like that.

I thought Sariphi was going to more upset when Ilya kicked Cy and Clops, she had an underwhelming reaction. I thought the same after Amit was chased out by Ilya, even if she was calm I couldn't feel how upset she was with him.

Poor Ilya, the childhood friend doesn't win. His hatred for beasts is not going to go away even more now that one is taking the person he cares most about away from him.

And it's not just that he doesn't win, he was forgotten. Sariphi was given a chance to go back if she had people waiting for her and she said she had no one, so yeah, kind of pity him on that point, not defending his actions though

I don't like that Ilya kidnapped Sariphi but the one I truly hate is definitely still Anubis cause he is just a conniving jerk that doesn't listen. I'm giving Ilya just a little slack due to his past and feel like he could potentially turn out decent (and potentially Sariphi's future guard)

you gotta remember that, ONE, he has a traumatic experience due to an attack on his village, TWO, A LOT of folks in that world are hateful towards the other kind(Both from humans and Beasts), THREE, Ilya actually risked his life for her out care not JUST out of hatred towards them.

That's why as much as I hate Anubis's actions, I do recognize it's one of the cases of "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" his actions are definitely wrong but his intentions could be respectable depending on how they where handled, ex: there are plenty of story's where the lead or at least a friend of theirs was in a similar position but was trying to deal with the situation more respectably.

His village wasn't just "attacked", it was wiped out. He witnessed atrocities committed before his eyes to his own fam. Dude has every reason to hate the beast folk. But he looks like in love with Sari and that will sometimes make you do rash things you later regret...
Anubis is thinking purely rational and logical. Why would he support his King making a decision with his heart when EVERY single point is screaming "IT'S A BAD IDEA!" He wants what's best for his King and right now he can't find one good reason Sari is "best" for him. Good isn't good enough BTW.

Like I said both have reasons for their actions, even though the ends doesn't justify the means. And depending on the story and how it portrays them their actions could possibly be seen as just or the RIGHT thing, for example, the anime "The Saints magic is Omnipotent" in it the prince is caring for a girl but is reprimanded due to his action being ACTUALLY harmful and not just seemingly a threat.
